Patrick in conversation with Ella Berthoud on October 21, 2020
As part of his residency at Exeter’s lovely old Custom House Museum, Patrick will be in conversation with his friend the painter and bibliotherapist, Ella Berthoud. They’ll talk about the theory that fiction is not simply good for extending our empathy but can be healing in other ways, about the practice and logistics of bibliotherapy and also how Ella’s reading interplays with her painting and current project to paint portraits of writers she admires. Patrick will ask her to prescribe books for an array of ailments and modern woes.
